Mobility

Range of motion you can control, not a stretch you endure for thirty seconds.

What it is

Joint-by-joint movement work for hips, shoulders, spine and ankles, built into training and offered on its own.

Mobility at EWB is active work. The goal is usable range — the kind you can breathe in, load and return from — rather than forcing a joint further than it wants to go.

Mobility shows up inside personal training and strength sessions, and in class formats including Adult Stretch & Strengthen and Mindful Movement & Gentle Yoga Stretch. If a stiff hip is limiting your squat or a tight shoulder is making overhead work uncomfortable, this is where that gets addressed.

Who it is for

This is a good fit if.

  • 01People who sit for a living and feel it in their hips and upper back.
  • 02Lifters whose range is limiting their technique.
  • 03Runners and walkers with tight calves and ankles.
  • 04Anyone who wants to move more easily, not just stretch more.
What a session looks like

The shape of the work.

01

Find the restriction

A coach watches a basic pattern — squat, hinge, reach — and identifies where the range is actually coming from.

02

Move, then load

Drills are followed by a loaded pattern, so the new range has a reason to stay.

03

Take two home

You leave with a short practice you can repeat on your own, not a twenty-minute routine you will abandon.

If your question is not here, call (619) 884-4937 or email [email protected].

Is mobility the same as stretching?

Not quite. Stretching is one tool. Mobility work adds control and strength at the end range, which is what makes it useful outside the studio.

Should I book a class or personal training?

If you have a specific restriction, personal training gives more individual attention. Group stretch classes are a good maintenance habit. The format finder can help you choose.

Can I come just for mobility?

Yes. Ask about the stretch and restore classes, or book a session and tell your coach that range of motion is the priority.
